Textured UV-Cured Digital Printing Opens a World of Design Opportunities
Product printing has evolved significantly from the days when single colour silk screen and pad printing were the only options for adding graphics and text to an enclosure. While these traditional methods are still suitable for simple legends and markings, they are slow to set up, require multiple stages for multi-colour work, and limit creative flexibility.
UV-cured digital printing has changed what is possible for enclosure design. Because screens and pads are no longer required, set-up costs are greatly reduced and smaller production volumes can be produced economically. Designers can now apply high quality graphics to both flat and curved plastic and metal surfaces with speed, accuracy and consistency.
Modern UV digital printers use an advanced eight-channel ink system. Alongside standard CMYK inks, additional channels including clear, white inks and primer allow a wide range of finishes to be achieved in a single pass. This makes it possible to combine full colour graphics with selective gloss or matt areas, embossed effects and textured surface treatments.
A key advantage is the ability to print right to the edges of curved surfaces while maintaining sharp detail. Primer can be applied selectively to deliver crisp results on both smooth and textured finishes. Clear ink enables high gloss, matt or raised effects, and an embedded library of 129 texture options means the design possibilities are almost endless.
UV-cured digital printing also supports larger format requirements. Panels up to 19 inches wide and 9U high can be printed with sharp, wear-resistant images, including both solid and gradient colours. Customer artwork can be imported directly in industry standard formats, reducing the risk of transcription errors and ensuring accurate reproduction.
By combining enclosure modification and printing in-house, the overall production process is simplified. Customers benefit from a single purchase order covering the exact quantity required, avoiding unnecessary over-ordering for approvals and removing the need to send part-finished components to multiple contractors.
Using UV-cured digital printing to its full capability opens up a world of design opportunities, supports strong corporate identity requirements, reinforces brand recognition and enhances the overall appearance of the finished product.
